Managing sucklers to maximise returns from rough grazing.

The Farmer Network has been monitoring grass quality and cattle growth rates on 10 farms across Cumbria and The Yorkshire Dales where cattle were grazed on rough upland pastures over the past season. They will report headline findings so far and focus on how one of the graziers,Alan Tallentire, manages his suckler herd and the rougher grazing at High Griseburn.

Alan’s cattle are commercial Simmental crosses and he has also been breeding some pure Simmentals since the 1980s.

This will be a short meeting, with a chance to look at the cattle and have a discussion.
Coffee/Tea on arrival at 11am and a hot lunch will be provided.
